Lakers looking for immediate solutions.....

Now there's a team that gets it.....The Lakers don't win a title, so they disband the team, and they keep trying until they can get it....Only one problem. They want to get rid of the best player in the NBA.

Don't tell me that he's the one that wants out, or I'll call Bullshit... They knew getting rid of Phil Jackons would spark this... They want to also cater to Kobe. Kobe's good, but Good luck finding a 7'0 dominant type to complement him....Bye Bye LA....You were a Dynasty... The Clippers are now the Best team in LA....Dig that!

I'm a loser. I'm rewinding tapes tonight, writing on this instead of going out on a Saturday night. Saving the $$ never hurts, but when there's nothing to save, you have no choice! That's the biggest stinger about small market television. Be prepared to make very little $$$, because you can be replaced in a milli-second...The pay-off is down the line (or better be).

On a positive note....Tomorrow is my Friday. Will knock out the Sunday shows, and then not variate from my couch (or Dish Network) for quite a while....Speaking of Dish Network (or shows on the dish), a friend entered me in the "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" Dallas episodes.....Let's hope they find out that I'm an hour north of D-town, and eliminate me.....PLEASE! Though free clothes wouldn't suck....

If you're bored and want to see some bloopers from where I work, goto (http://www.boneschapel.com) and click on the "Random Bloopers" link....there's one of me on there anchoring, and letting one slip out that you may not want to miss......I'm scarred for life on that one.....

Other than that, I'm trying to get an interview with a guy in Durant that makes some pretty neat custon cars....(1/2 cars, 1/2 motorcycles, etc)...Pretty cool stuff....Think it'll make a good feature....we'll see.....

If you haven't checked out Mark Cubans blog (www.blogmaverick.com}, it's more than worth a peek....He's quite candid about business success,,, the Mavs, and the NBA in general...Can't wait to see what he writes about Shaq.....Maverick bound????? (more than doubtful).....But we shall see......

Tomorrow....Longhorns and Georgia in the College World Series....Sister is a Dawg, as is her hubby......World with countless Horns.....Bette dig out my Bulldog boxers for tomorrow, though the elastic wasteband is no more.....That'll be interesting on the set.....

If you want to see the best interview you've ever seen with Barry Switzer, then goto http://www.newsok.com?sports....Scroll down halfway....and the links are on the left under the "Sooners" sub-title...

Dean Blevins of News9 in OKC interviews him in a 3-part series, and it's OUTSTANDING. Ask Barry a question, and he takes it and runs...Put some time aside though, they're rather lengthy, but awful good....

'Tis all I got..... Back on the chain-gang tomorrow night....If you're in Texoma, or have Sherman/Denison/Ardmore Dish in the Dallas area (Hi Mom and Dad), 5:30 and 10pm Sunday....Hope your weekend is fan-damn-tastic....

I'm a Liar....

I said I'd update Wednesday, but didn't ....25 lashes for me....T'was good to catch up with some old buddies the otherday...Snyder, Caddy, D-Love....All of their Crew, and Mister Steve Traynor....Good group, need to do that more often.....Do we ever see or talk to old friends often enough?????....Talk amongst yourselves....

Ken Griffey Junior! Enjoy #500! Hoipe you get it now that the Rangers have left Cinci... Watch your team clinch their collective a-holes until you do....flashbacks of Raffy Palmeiro last year taking 13 or so games to do it was quite uncomfortable....Although more so for Tom Hicks than me....oy!...

Stars sign a couple of vets...who cares???? there won't be a season next year anyway.....Collective Bargaining effs another league.....Good riddance (for a while)....Somebody oughta try and market the product that the NHL puts out....they might have better ratings than tractor pulls.....

Anchoring this week...still...looking forward to getting back in the field,,,and putting some stories together.....(if there are any out there!!!)

Found golf out here for $12 a round....unfortunately, it's $30 to ride.....I quite walking courses in high school.....No ride, no golf.....(being fat & lazy is coooooo)....

I think that's it for now...gotta get the 10:00 sports together....

PS- the Denison basketball coach quit the other day...Couldn't pass the teacher certification tests.....So, he went back to Oklahoma.....Said that they put too much emphasis on that test....Did he not know that going in?????? OY!

Been a Long time Since I Rock and Rolled....

Sorry it's been a while soince I've updated this....Boss started vacation this week, and I'm covering for him.....ouch.

Speaking of Rock and Roll, saw an AC/DC cover band last night out at the lake. "Back in Black" as they go, were pretty dead on. Can't give them a thumbs up though. The lead singer had far too much useless banter between songs. Shut up and sing, dude!

Fun weekend in sports. Good to see UT make it to the college world series, only because my Sooners and Mavericks (UTA) fell (quite) short.....Good to see Georgia there...That keeps family members interested for another week....

NBA tonight, the Lakers lose game 4....Makes you think that this may be the fall of the Evil Empire?!?!?!? I may be wrong, but Kobe and Shaq play best when up against it, though the Piston sure as heck have made this an enteresting one....

Gonna be in Dallas/Arlington proper Tuesday....Day off, and I might try to get back to Ditto (Arlington Muni) and get a round in before finding Happy Hour trouble......More on that Wednesday....

Writing is still OK...Need to clean it up a bit, and make my angles sparkle..If I had more time, it would be a breeze (or easier)....

Back in tomorrow....Tuesday and Wednesday off...Looking forward to finishing strong....Need to start finding local story angles, as all local sports are over for a while....

Know any sports figure/story in the Texoma area that would be a feel-good story, or interesting?....Me neither at the moment....

Gotta get...it's midnight, and I'm back tomorrow.....OUt!

Another Weekend Down.....

The weekends are my bread and butter.....Have been for about the last 5 years......I used to work big hours on the weekends in radio, sometimes several stations a day....Now it's just 1 TV station, but if I were in a bigger market, 3-4 people would be doing what I have to do (and would be doing far better than I am, by the way).....Good shows this weekend...Got up this morning, and covered the Dallas Cowboys mini-camp...It was probably dumb to do, since I have a 5:30 show to get together and anchor, and it'd damn hard to do with sports events still going on. Barely got it together and on the air...probably wasn't the cleanest show, but I had baeutiful content.....

On a seperate issue, I feel by writing getting better, especially my intro's to stories.....we'll see....

Got Monday off...Supposed to interview Bob Stoops in Durant Tuesday....Never sure if that sort of thing is ever a go...MNight have to be a gnat and buzz around him.....

Wednesday is an off day, then probably in Ft. Worth Friday at the racetrack for an IRL preview....still not sure......Shows live in Madill, OK Friday, and it might be me, as the boss has many, many days off to burn before July....and off we go!!!!!

OUT!

Here Come the Slow Days....

Whip of a day. Had to wake up at 9 to call and see what time a soccer camp happened that I had to cover....Ended at 3, fine, but I'm already up.

They were nowhere to be found when i got there (At Austin College), so I went to Gunter High School, where the baseball team is in the regional finals tomorrow night. Got some sopund from a player and the coach....Got some infield, etc.

Finally put together my Six Flags feature to air tomorrow morning. It was OK....Wish we had more time there to polish up what we had to use. Instead, we were kind of in and out. It'll be OK for what we did with it.

Tomorrow, I have that soccer camp (they'll be out there this time), and there will be some Olympic athletes at Gunter HS putting on a track and field festival/show all day, and I'll get the start of it. Then I goto the station, edit them and write them. From there, the show is like at the Magnolia Festival in Durant, OK, and I'll be there to schmooze, and from there, the Gunter playoff game in Allen. I'll be rushing that back for the 10pm newscast.....And then, HIBERNATION.......

Daze Off

Memorial Day was memorable....Played in a Charity Golf Tournament on the team that carried me...We finished 4th, and we all got free golf bags.....Hoo-Wah!

Today was another off-day in which I id some work stuff. Went to Six Flags, reviewed 2 of the new rides/areas, and then went to a see a buddy, and ate at one of my favorite eateries in Arlington. Then went and saw the folks in Dallas.....Was a good day, but the Farmer's Tan is in full effect......Might get some golf in tomorrow, might not.....Need rest....Got tomorrow off, so laundry takes priority,,,as does a clean apartment......The vacation continues.....
